  • About Album

All the elements of this deeply personal album draw links to Acheson’s past travels, homes and projects in some way. A dripping drainpipe in Innsbruck, an extractor fan in Tallinn, and wildlife in the Outer Hebrides, sit alongside cutlery, crockery and a fizzing gin and tonic in Brighton. Excerpts from sessions with many musicians include core Hidden Orchestra players Poppy Ackroyd, Tim Lane and Jamie Graham, as well as harpist Mary MacMaster, cellist Su-a Lee, and clarinettist Floex, their influences ranging from Shetland folk music to abstract experimental soundtrack work.

    About: Hidden Orchestra
    GB

Hidden Orchestra is the solo studio project of multi-instrumentalist composer/producer Joe Acheson. The albums and live shows feature a wide variety of guest musicians from all kinds of musical backgrounds. Classical/Electronic styles of music made with acoustic instruments, drums, field recordings and natural sounds. Beat-driven soundtrack soundscapes with layers of energy, emotion and atmosphere. Experimental without losing accessibility, electronic and acoustic, complex and simple, dark and energetic whilst intricate and calm. (IDM/Classical/Dub/Electronica/Folk/Post-Rock/HipHop/DnB/Jazz) The live shows feature a core quartet of Joe Acheson on bass and electronics, with Poppy Ackroyd on piano and violin, and Tim Lane and Jamie Graham on two full live drum kits. Regular live guests include Phil Cardwell (trumpet) and a spectacular live audiovisual show by Lumen. Hidden Orchestra has seen its star rise steadily and emphatically since the release of albums "Night Walks" (2010) and "Archipelago" (2012) on Tru Thoughts Records, with an organic buzz building through the highly in-demand live show at clubs and major festivals throughout over 30 countries in Europe and beyond.

  • About Album

Psychedelic rock, krautrock, desert rock, punk rock, noise rock, afrobeat, experimental pop, post-rock, electronic; all are touchstones for Avec le soleil sortant de sa bouche. Their multi-movement durational music arguably combines trance rock and audio collage above all - a diced and spliced approach to longform multi-movement groove music played by a stripped down quartet of two guitars, bass and drums, synched to pre-recorded electronics and musique concrète. The band's unique restlessness and inventiveness seduces with shifts, turns and dovetails, consistently destabilizing its own inexorable musical logic in highly satisfying fashion. Avec le soleil sortant de sa bouche deploys a panoply of buoyant musical ideas, subtly sumptuous sonic treatments, and joyous stylistic nods - while remaining fundamentally devoted to working the groove from a kaleidoscope of angles. Their sound always seems to be escaping overt homage or retro tendencies; neither freighted with reverence nor weightless with irreverence, the music of Avec le soleil routes and uproots itself along its own refreshingly untrodden path. Pas pire pop, I Love You So Much is post-modern psychedelic trance-pop that sounds like no other.

About: Avec Le Soleil Sortant De Sa Bouche
    CA

Over the past few years, Montreal kraut-funk quartet Avec Le Soleil Sortant De Sa Bouche has established itself as something of a local supergroup – its members have been active in this city's experimental rock communities for well over a decade, including participation in Panopticon Eyelids, Pas Chic Chic, Red Mass, Set Fire to Flames, and, from the Constellation roster, Fly Pan Am – and gained a local reputation for irresistible and levitational live sets combining a contemporary/avant-garde sensibility with infectiously angular, rubbery grooves.

The band formed in Montreal in 2011 as a trio of bassist, singer and composer Jean-Sebastien Truchy (of Fly Pan Am), guitarist/engineer Sebastien Fournier and drummer Nasir Hasan, with several lineup expansion and contractions over the following couple of years. Summer 2014 found the group solidified into a tight four-piece unit (Truchy, Fournier, Eric Gingras on guitar and, with the departure of Hasan, Samuel Bobony in the drummer's chair), careening towards mastery of a highly original, deeply satisfying, giddy and heady avant-funk.
